Bask in the Son

Last night I woke up with a song in my head and I’m happy to say that it made me glad as I turned over to rest on the opposite side that I was on for the beginning of my sleep. In the quiet darkness of the night, my mind was singing about sunlight. Heavenly sunlight. Of course that made me smile and I drifted back to sleep.

Sunlight fills us. It brings warmth and light to everything that allows it to shine upon. Even through the closed up walls it still finds its way through the smallest spaces between the slats to fill the barn with light. Billy FuFu stands still and closes his eyes just to soak up the warmth of the morning sun while he enjoys the sanctuary of breakfast time where all the pesky equine are stalled up and not able to chase him around.

The other day I saw so many animals laying flat out in their pastures soaking up the gorgeous sunny day after two days of freezing weather. Even I could barely pull myself away from the warmth of the porch. I just sat there for as long as possible with my eyes closed, letting the sun bare down on my winterized epidermis.
Ah, it was blissful.

It’s no wonder depression is suffered from those who don’t have the opportunity to bask in the sun.
It’s no wonder depression is suffered from those who don’t take the opportunity to bask in the Son.

* “Shadows around me, shadows above me, never conceal my Savior and Guide; He is the light, in Him is no darkness...Heavenly sunlight, heavenly sunlight flooding my soul with glory divine. Hallelujah, I am rejoicing. Singing His praises, Jesus is mine.”

*Rev. H.J.Zelley, G.H. Cook-Baptist Hymnal
