Yipee!

There's a show we like to watch and what I like best about it is not the action, the subject, or the fact that it includes horses. The attitudes of the subjects keep me watching. The show centers around real life in their world as they strive to achieve the same goal. It's not scripted. Nor is it about the drama that goes along with their lives. There's no cursing, fighting, screaming...well, a little screaming and maybe a bit of fighting...but not like you'd think of television now days.

Here's the deal, it's about a group of girls, some women, but all ladies. (In my book, you have to earn the title of a Lady. You can be a woman- but not a lady.) These ladies ride broncs. They are Cowgirls that range in age from 17 to ?. Fighting to stay on broncs and screaming for each other, they are inspirational.

The biggest reason I love watching them is because of the way they encourage each other. At any given moment, one of them could get jealous or bitter and start showing her be-hind. (That's what I call it when someone is acting like a donkey.) These girls are very competitive, but they support each other and cheer for one another- no matter what. 1 Thessalonians 5:11-15 could be embroidered on their competition shirts because each of them exemplify the truth of what that scripture tells us all to do.

Each morning I take a moment to send a text to someone important to me. When I started doing this I hoped it would brighten their day, maybe give a little happy to their morning, but I didn't realize how encouraging that could be until today. This morning I was the recipiant of one of those texts. Wow! What a blessing to know someone was thinking of me as they started their day. Just a quick little text saying "Hope you have a wonderful day" put a smile on my face and made me want to get out there and conquer all that was ahead.

Let's not be too busy to let someone know you're thinking of them. Take that extra second to smile, wave, give a hug or make that phone call. It's one of my biggest faults, but today there's time to change.

"Cowgirls" (a series worth watching on Ride TV)-are a rare breed of real women striving for excellence in a world that's been closed off to them for many years. All working together, encouraging one another and pushing each other toward the same goal. What a joy to see the successes of them, the dedication to something they believe in and the sacrifices and obstacles they toss aside until finally, they end up on top of that mountain they've been scampering to climb. All along, they've had each other, and their faith. Faith in God, faith in themselves and faith in each other. You can see it grow throughout the season. It's one of a few shows I enjoy watching.

Let's all be Cowgirls! ...or Cowboys, they're pretty awesome too! As long as I can remember, they've always encouraged each other. No Rodeo or event that includes Cowgirls and Cowboys will ever skip a National Anthem or a Prayer, nor will they turn their heads from anyone in need. If I ever saw that, I'd know for sure Jesus was saddled up with spurs on, and Hell was right behind Him
