December 22. As I try to digest that date, I wonder. My head is filled with it, the wondering. I wonder what I did with this year. Did I do everything I needed to? What all did I miss...is there time left to make it up? Honestly, just because I start a new calendar soon doesn't mean that unfinished tasks and goals have to be left on the old one. But that's how I feel. I want everything to be completed in order to start fresh. January 1, 2019 is really just another day. It's not even at the beginning of the week.
It's humbling to think of people who aren't looking forward to December 25, 2018. In some ways I can't blame them. Our world is inundated with candy-laden storefronts, advertising and propaganda. You can't leave your home without seeing something that says what time of year it is...for dreamers. For many, visions of candy canes don't dance in their heads, they are only reminded of their pain. Or loneliness. Even sadness.
The sun is coming up as I write this. It really is a gorgeous, calm, comfortable morning. There is so much to be thankful for today and I list as much as I have mind for, but I could be here all day and still never finish listing...And as much as I look forward to Tuesday, remembering my friends and acquaintances that aren't necessarily as excited as I am, keeps perspective in mind.
Fervent prayer for those who suffer. Who are missing loved ones, who are battling illness. Lonely, broken, struggling in so many ways. Away from those they love. Prayer for comfort, peace and the spirit of the real Christmas to fall upon them. One day there will be no more sadness or pain. No one lonely or hungry.
If I had one Christmas wish, it would be that everyone received salvation so that we could celebrate Christmas every day.
Until then, I will wish you a Merry Christmas. Today, tomorrow and Tuesday. Whatever day Christmas comes to you, I hope you will celebrate, have joy and peace, and share the hope with those who need it.
Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
My favorite verse-My gift to you.
