It's Here

It’s Friday. The day I’ve been referring to all week. THE Friday. We’ve known it was coming and it’s here.

For some, it’s a day off, for others, just another day. For me...it’s what I make of it.

THIS Good Friday is so different than any other one before. I’m not filling eggs with fishing lures, jellybeans and money. There’s no big lunch planned, no new outfit to wear to church. No plans to see family and friends...but a lot of time to think.

Today can be an end, or it can be a beginning. That’s the beauty of any given day; depends on how you look at it.

For the longest time I couldn’t understand why this day would be called “Good”. It stands for so much pain and so many hurtful things; my sin and undeserved blessings for instance. And by that, I mean all Jesus took upon himself because of my sin and undeserved blessings.

But, today I woke up to a brand new day. And the sun is blasting the sky with it’s bold light. There is not one single cloud in the sky above me. I’m blessed.

Friends are suffering, people are sick. The world is in a panic, yet, here I am in my happy place reaping the blessings that God pours on me every single day.

So-I choose to sit in the scriptures that explain what makes this day “Good”...I compare and contrast. I pick out things that are different and put the whole picture together in my mind and contemplate how to convey my thoughts to anyone who would read them...and I feel inadequate. Yet, He prods me to continue. I obey.

Wherever you are, whatever you’re doing, I hope that you will take a moment to see your gifts and your blessings and send up a “thank you”.

Can I give an insight to what this day means to me? Probably. But the important thing to notice is what it means to YOU, what you do with it and how you decide to use it. It has nothing to do with me and it really doesn’t matter how much I try to describe the story of what today means, because it’s already been written by four people who were there! They saw it, along with many others. And they’ve said it better than I ever could, so I can only suggest that you read what they wrote; and if there is any way you can even begin to imagine the happenings therein...I implore you to ponder them. Ask what they mean to you.

I pray your heart is convicted. That you’re driven to do the right thing and that these words impress upon your heart so much, that you are set on fire to share them with others...especially this coming Sunday...that should be called GREAT Sunday...but perhaps “Great” isn’t even a big enough word.

EASTER. Yeah, that has more impact if you think about it for how it originated. Long before peanut butter eggs and marshmallow chicks.

EASTER SUNDAY...what does it mean to you?
