Definitely NOTW
I’ve never been one to follow the crowd. Oh, I’ve tried, but it just never works out for me.
Once, I was meeting some friends to go to Six Flags and we consulted one another on what to wear...they showed up all cute and put together; I wore cut-offs and a t-shirt.
Another time I remember going to a fancy 12 step thing for my dad and on the way I unzipped my gaucho boots to pull up my socks and my mom flipped out about how hairy my legs were. In my defense she hadn’t told me I could shave yet.
Marching to the beat of my own drum could’ve been the mantra of my life. I’ve worn men’s jeans since I found out they fit more comfortably and cutting the arms and bottoms off my t-shirts just kept me cool in the summer. There were days I rode in my bathing suit and cleaned stalls barefooted. I only remember getting ring worm once.
These days I still can’t figure it out. I hate to spend money so I’m often getting the stylish tops (because I buy the same type of jeans every year at the Stock Show buy two get one free-thus I only ever need tops ) when they’re on clearance...way out of style. They hang in my closet for years as I typically only wear them to church...on Sunday...in the morning...because I will likely wear a t-shirt on Wednesdays and maybe on Sunday night if I go.
Tomorrow my daughter is getting married. Sigh. I’m not concerned about anything except what the heck I’m gonna wear! I bought a blue blouse...isn’t the mother of the bride supposed to wear blue? I’m not wearin’ it.
Prayerfully I’m wearing something else I recently purchased...at full price! I’ve just got to figure out which boots to wear.
Welp, gotta get ready to pick up the cake! One of the last duties I have until the big “I-Do”. My sister in law is coming to pick me up so we can put the cake in her vehicle instead of my truck in hopes of it being a safer trip to the venue. She’ll probably be in a cute outfit and look amazing...I’m in dirty tennis shoes and a hand-me-down-t-shirt.
No worries God, I’ll not be conforming to this crazy world. I may not look like the temple I could, but maybe that’s what keeps me humble.
